Rajnikanth turns 58
Around 58 years ago, the world today stood still exactly at 11:54 pm. This was the time that announced the birth of a child phenomenon and a mega star. Gods were tad confident that this child will surpass all their expectations and will surely become the darling all over the globe in the days to come! They blessed him with the power of not just merely being a star or a superstar… but a celestial phenomenon all over! Since they wanted the child’s name to be extraordinary and special, they named him as ‘Rajnikanth’, a name for which the term ‘impossible’ itself makes way to say ‘I m Possible’.
Born and brought up as Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, our Birthday boy spent his early years steering his way on the roads as a bus conductor. But, no sooner he said ‘cheese’ before the camera, the path to superlative success for this man called Rajnikanth was laid! People who are really close to him say that the one saying that Rajnikanth is one person who has always lived by the saying ‘Beware of everything that is untrue. One needs to stick to the truth because it’s only the truth that will help you succeed slowly but steadily’. Even though Rajnikanth starred in a few Hindi films, it was in southern films that he attained unprecedented success that he truly was destined for. So much so that, he even has a temple in his name and also boasts of being the highest paid actor all over!

The yesteryear’s actress who passed away in her sleep yesterday has played many prominent and (for her time) bold roles through her career. Well known playing the role of a vamp in films during the 50’s, Begum Para was last seen in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Saawariya.
Jugal Hansraj to direct Uday Chopra and Priyanka Chopra for YRF
Jugal Hansraj’s first directorial venture Roadside Romeo may not have found many takers at the B.O. However, Yash Raj Films (producers of Roadside Romeo) seem to have their faith instilled in Jugal, who would be directing yet another film for the country’s premiere production house.
Jugal’s next directorial venture brings together a rather unusual pairing of actors Uday Chopra and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. The film is expected to go on floors early next year (2009) and well, it would be interesting to see the onscreen chemistry between Uday and Priyanka.

There is no denying the fact that Katrina Kaif is among the most sought after actresses in Bollywood today. After all, in the recent past, Katrina has been part of many-a-hit films like Partner, Namastey London, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng to name a few. Now the gorgeous actress has added not just one but two special feathers to her already impressive cap.
Last week, Katrina was voted the ‘Sexiest Asian Woman’ for the year 2008 in a poll conducted by Eastern Eye, a well read publication in the U.K. Last year’s winner Bipasha Basu has now been pushed to the second spot. A surgeon who’s a super-model? Sounds like a deadly combination. “Yeah my character flies to Italy to become a super-model to support herself financially. I didn’t want to play the character looking like an international model because she’s basically in another profession. So she can’t really have the figure of Victoria Beckham, can she? I had to look more filled up. Again, for my next release Main Aur Mrs Khanna with Salman, I play a wife. So I wanted to look more filled up. Not that wives can’t be curvaceous. The one I played in Golmaal Returns certainly was.”
For her forthcoming films ‘Size 0′ is out. No more international anorexic looks for her. Kareena Kapoor is down to a healthy normal desi girl’s model-like figure.
Reason? “My forthcoming releases required me to get back to a fuller shape.”
