T-Series signs Neeraj Sridhar for 5-year deal

Music composer and singer Neeraj Shridhar has been signed for a five-year artiste management contract by T-Series, wherein the singer is now an exclusive artiste with the premier music company. T-Series will handle his shows and his brand endorsements.

Neeraj is famous for his band ‘Bombay Vikings’ and for many Bollywood hit songs, which he has to his credit. His number in T-Series production BHOOL BHULAIYA, ‘Hare Ram Hare Krishna’, was a super-hit number. The latest feather in his cap is the title song of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA.

NDTV Imagine allies with wide Angle Creations for Tamil film

NDTV Imagine Film Company has forayed into movie production in South. The company has allied with Wide Angle Creations to produce a Tamil action thriller, titled MADHURAI SAMBHAVAM. The movie will star actors Harikumar, Anuya Bhagwat and Karthika in the lead and is scheduled to go on floors from December 2008.

Apart from this film, NDTV Imagine Film Company is partnering with directors and film-makers of national repute as well as up and coming talent. With over 30 projects in varying stages of development, the film company plans to produce and release 6-8 films in one year.

‘Kajraare’, ‘A New Love Ishtory’ on schedule: Bhushan Kumar

Unfazed by the recent recession, Bhushan Kumar has rubbished all speculations about budget cuts by announcing that he will ensure that his current films will be on schedule and in the pre-allocated budget.

While A NEW LOVE ISHTORY will go into shoot in December in Ahmedabad for a 21-day final schedule, KAJRAARE will go in for a 30-day schedule in Mumbai in Jan-Feb. The films will be complete and ready for release as per schedule.

‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ to receive extensive release in Europe

Yash Raj Films’ RAB NE BANA DI JODI, directed by Aditya Chopra and starring Shah Rukh Khan, has now been confirmed to be released on 12th December — the same day it is releasing in India — in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. This, of course, is in addition to a huge number of theatres all across United Kingdom.

For the Hindi film industry, this is a step forward, what with RAB NE BANA DI JODI releasing across 30 countries worldwide.

Ashutosh Gowariker starts ‘What’s Your Raashee?’

The first shooting schedule of Ashutosh Gowariker’s romantic comedy WHAT’S YOUR RAASHEE? commenced on 6th December in Mumbai. The entire movie will be shot in a single start-to-end schedule. The film stars Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja in the lead.

WHAT’S YOUR RAASHEE? is based on a Gujarati novel ‘Kimball Ravenswood’ by Madhu Rye and is a story revolving around a young Gujarati man in pursuit of his dream girl, with the catch to find her within 10 days in order to save his family from an unforeseen ordeal, which leads to an array of confusion, chaos and a hilarious joy ride.

Vipul Shah quashes rumours of being hit by recession

With the recession hitting the film industry hard, more and more film-makers are getting cautious and watching the situation minutely. It’s said that the Studios have decided to adopt a wait-n-watch attitude, while several A-list independent producers have decided to hold on for the time being as well.

Rumours are rife that Vipul Shah has decided to put his multiple films on hold, for the time being. It’s said that he’s focussing on completing LONDON DREAMS first, before he takes stock of the situation and decides on his next move. “Completely untrue,” Vipul quashes the rumours, “No recession can affect a good film. If you plan your film well, keep its economics in check and make all efforts to make a good film, things can’t go wrong.”

Santosh Sivan sweeps The Olympia International Film Festival

Sunday at midnight, at the 10th Olympia International Film Festival For Children Santosh Sivan’s much-acclaimed Hindi film Tahaan, about the relationship between a little boy and his pet donkey, walked away with several major awards including the topmost awards for Best Feature Film, the CIFEJ (Centre International du Film pour Les Enfant Et La Jeunesse) award and the UNICEF award for Best film.

“That covers the entire major awards in the films category,” said an excited Sivan, minutes after the Olympia awards concluded in Greece.
